Google wave is creating a lot of buzz these days, so lets start exploring it from the very basics.

What is Google Wave? Google wave is an online tool that combines instant messaging, email, web chat, wikis, social networking, project management and some other good features all in one place. In short, Google Wave is an online tool for real-time communication and collaboration.

A wave can be both a conversation & a document where people can discuss and work together using richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

Google Wave Features:

Lets have a quick view on some of the great features in google wave.

1: Real-time updates: You can see in real time what others are typing character by character.

2: Natural language tools: Google wave provides contextual suggestions and spelling corrections thereby auto correcting your spelling mistakes. Language tools also enables automatic text translation.

3: Waves are Embeddable: Google waves can be embedded on a blog or website.

4: Playback: One very innovative feature in Google Wave is Playback. Using Google Wave playback feature you can see the progression of a conversation in a wave. If someone joins the coversation from the middle (or in some other point of time) then he can use the playback feature to see what happened in the wave from the very beginning in a step by step manner.

5: Drag-and-drop file sharing: File sharing is very easy in Google Wave, just drag and drop the file in Google and everyone will have the access to it.

6: Wave Extensions: Wave extensions are a way to augment the functionality of waves and the wave client.
