in Tools & Extras

We have already published few posts on IMEI number of a mobile phone explaining what a IMEI number is?, how to find valid IMEI number?, how to check IMEI validity?. If you have missed those articles then check them out here: How to check validity of IMEI number? &  How to find a Valid IMEI number?

Well, now talking about iPhone, there are several ways to find iPhone IMEI number, serial number and ICCID. So lets start exploring them one by one.

Method 1: Finding iPhone IMEI in iTunes with iPhone connected to it:

Follow these simple steps to find iPhone IMEI, serial number, and ICCID.

  • First of all connect iPhone to the computer, and select your iPhone when it starts appearing in iTunes 7.6 ( or higher)
  • Now select the “Summary” tab and it will show you up your iPhone’s serial number.

  • Under the same “Summary” tab click on Phone Number (see screenshot above) and iTunes will display IMEI number.

  • Similarly click on “IMEI” and iTunes will display the ICCID.

Method 2: Finding iPhone IMEI in iTunes with iPhone not connected to iTunes:

When you don’t have iPhone connected to iTunes follow this procedure.

  • Open up iTunes 8.1 ( or higher version) and mouse over a device backup. Now open preferences in iTunes, in Windows you can do it by choosing “Edit > Preferences” and in Mac you can go to “iTunes > Preferences“.
  • Select the “Devices” tab. Now for a backed up iPhone hovering the mouse over a backup will display the serial number and IMEI number too. See the screenshot below.

Method 3: IMEI on iPhone About Screen:

iPhone About screen displays your iPhone serial number,IMEI, and ICCID. To open your iPhone About screen go to Settings > General > About from your iPhone home screen. You will need to scroll down a bit to see IMEI and serial number.

Hi, Shahab,
How to find the IMEI NUMBERS through the phone numbers? I used three SIM cards (each represents a different phone number)on my phone before I lost it, now I only know the phone numbers. Is there anyway to use these phone numbers to find my IMEI NUMBERS ?

Dear ,
Please tell me how I can defferenciate the Original iphone form the Duplicate one.
Please reply as early as possible as I am planning to buy a 3G version from my friend who purchased in Phillippines for 38000pisos as he says,

13 Shahab February 7, 2010 at 11:36 am

Well alexander fake phones won’t have original imei and also they won’t have original serial number. So here are two things you can do to check whether your iPhone is original or fake:

1: Check out its IMEI validity from this link
2: Open this link , enter your serial number, if you get the description for iPhone then its the original iPhone.

Do let me know If you get any difficulty in doing this.

24 daniel October 9, 2010 at 4:09 pm

hi, is the imei number on the iphone 4 box? is rtheir any way of getting the number if the phone is lost already? thanks

25 Shahab December 17, 2010 at 7:29 am

Daniel , sorry for replying you so late.
You can find iPhone 4 IMEI on its packaging box. So if you have original iPhone packaging box with you in which your iPhone came in, you can find your iPhone serial number and IMEI printed on the barcode label that’s affixed to the packaging.

27 John December 10, 2010 at 2:25 am

Can anyone tell me is your IMEI number transmitted when making a phone call ie is it linked to your telephone number ?

28 Shahab December 17, 2010 at 7:20 am

Hi John, mobile number has nothing to do with the IMEI number. Its not at all linked with the mobile number. So don’t worry IMEI is not transmitted anywhere when u make calls to any other mobile.
