By now Facebook has offered the profile URLs that have string of numbers in it (like facebook.com/profile.php?id=588454734&ref=name) thereby making it unsuitable for you to share it with your friends and family. But now facebook has decided to offer desired profile URLs on the first come first serve basis i.e instead of that confusing string of numbers in your profile URL you can now have your name or any other your desired username in your profile URL to personalise it. The personalised URLs (Vanity URLs) will be easy to remember and share, just like this http://www.facebook.com/yourusername.
Now depending on your timezone you can pick your desired facebook username from facebook.com/username/ either on friday or on saturday. For getting the exact timing of username allotment in your time zone just login to your facebook account and click on the tab “Home” to go to your facebook homepage and there you will see a facebook announcement like shown below.
Note: Your username must be at least five characters in length and only include alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9), or a period or full stop (“.”). Username Once Selected can’t be changed, so be careful.

This is serious. I would like to remove completely my facebook contact information from my facebook page. (i.e http://www.facebook.com/username
I would like to have only my email visible, because as it stands now, everyone can just click on my contact info and view everything. I tried EVERYTHING I could on the privacy setttins, edit….everything, but to no avail. can you please help me since I had to remove certain personal info. that I wanted only for my friends.

You can customize the visibility of your personal information on facebook very easily. Go to this link: http://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=privacy&ref=mb
You’ll see the Contact information link there, click on it and then adjust your contact info visibility settings a per your requirement. Its very easy go and give it a try now.

Actually facebook fanpage username can only contain A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and periods (.)
Make sure you are not adding any other symbol which is not allowed.

So the problem I’m having is with make a vanity URL for my Fan Page for my business. I go to facebook.com/username and it asks me for a mobile number to send a verification code so I can continue.
The issue is, whoever had my cell number previously, has used it for their account and didn’t remove or update it, therefore I cannot use it because it’s currently linked to that other account.
Is there any way I can get around this? I have a URL for my personal account, but not my fanpage.
