Recently Google reader added the Favicon support which enables you to have a favicon next to every Google reader subscription. Though this feature will make your subscription list quite colorful, which you might not want, it may help you in switching among different subscriptions.

Google has not activated this favicon support in Google reader by default. Mihai from Google Reader blog has explained why this favicon support is disabled by default:
We realize that not everyone wants their subscription list to turn into a multi-colored extravaganza, so we’ve made it into a setting that you can access from your subscriptions menu.
How to Show Favicons in Google Reader: There are two ways to enable favicon support in Google Reader. Just follow any one of the two methods mentioned below.
1] Click on the arrow in front of “Subscriptions”, and select “Use Favicons” from the list. (See the screenshot below)

2] Click on the “Settings” tab in the top right corner of your Google Reader account. Check “Show favicons for subscriptions”.
