Solyndra, a Fremont based solar panel manufacturer has unveiled it’s new solar panel design which is really very innovative. Actually Solar panel developed by Solyndra is very much efficient as compared to the conventional solar panels. Solyndra’s solar panel contains rows of cylindrical solar cells made of a thin film of semiconductor material which is made up of copper, indium, gallium, and selenium. This new solar panel construction is quite different as compared to the conventional solar panels, which have flat solar cells.

According to Solyndra, this new shape of solar panel will offer less wind resistance as compared to the resistance offered by conventional solar panels and due to this they can be easily installed on flat roof tops of buildings thereby reducing the cost of bolts and anchors. The cylindrical solar cell construction allows the air to pass through them due to which the effect of wind can be highly reduced.
Virgin Green Fund, Rockport Capital Partners and Argonaut Capital are some of the Solyndra’s investors according to reports.
