Samsung has introduced an amazing concept of solar powered touchscreen phone in the form of beautiful pebble shaped handset that is made up of recycled plastic called PCM which is extracted from water bottles. Samsung has named this pebble design phone as “Blue Earth”.
“This phone demonstrates our small but meaningful commitments for the future and our environment,” said JK Shin, an executive vice president at Samsung.

Blue earth uses a small solar panel provided on it’s back to generate power. Once the blue earth gets a full solar charge of around 10 to 14 hours, it gives a talk time of around 4 hours. Also this phone comes with five star energy efficient charger which uses standby power lower than .03 W . This phone has a smart built in pedometer that measures how much CO2 have been reduced while walking rather driving. There is also an eco-mode feature that sets screen brightness, back light duration and Bluetooth to an energy-efficient mode.
Blue earth is expected to arrive in the market in the second half of 2009.
