Almost for all of us a mobile phone is more than a phone these days. You can take still or moving pictures; download songs; even store a small library of movies to while away the idle hours — as long as you feel okay with a 3-inch screen!, and obviously you need to have a big storage for carrying your multimedia stuff with you.

So this why SanDisk is giving you 8 GB storage which is sufficient for a 1000 typical songs plus 1200 photos plus 21 hours of video recorded in MPEG-4. The Flash-based Mobile Ultra card in Micro SD or SDHC format, launched this week in India is also available in 2GB and 4GB sizes. CArd features are quite good but the problem is that they don’t come cheap: Rs. 6500, Rs. 5500 and Rs. 4500 for the three sizes. For photo enthusiasts and digital videographers, Sandisk has launched a 32 GB Compact Flash card which can record/store 80 minutes of high definition video at 100 megabytes per second. Priced at just under$ 300 internationally, the card should be available in India, later this year. Hopefully we all will find it up our expectations.
