Developers of WordPress, the popular open-source blogging platform, have released WordPress 2.8 (codenamed Baker) -the latest version of WordPress with some great improvements. This release has fixed 790 bugs in the earlier WordPress versions. You can download WordPress 2.8 from this link. Also check out this video for having a quick look on what’s new in WordPress 2.8.
Some of the major improvements in WordPress 2.8 are:
1: WordPress 2.8 is much faster than the earlier WordPress versions.
2: WordPress 2.8 allows you to browse the entire theme directory and install a theme with one click right from your WordPress Dashboard i.e you don’t have to leave your WordPress dashboard anymore for installing new theme.
3: On every page in the Admin panel at the top right position there is a “Screen options” tab. With this screen option tab you can decide how many items you want to display per page. Also you can have four coloumns of widget instead of two coloumns (by default) in your dashboard by changing the number of columns in screen layout.
